Sales Associate, Energy & Carbon Finance Firm (New York, NY)
Background:
This firm focuses on subscription sales of clean energy and carbon market news, data and research products to the financial, business and government marketplaces. Their buyers are industry researchers, investment professionals, strategists, policy-makers or senior executives.
The company is seeking several sales professionals with 3-5 years experience to help grow their presence in North America.
Role and Responsibilities:
Core responsibilities are:
• Conclude and exceed target level of sales.
• Demonstrate and articulate the full range of services to new clients and to close new business
• Negotiate renewal subscriptions with existing clients
• Help identify cross selling opportunities between teams
• Assist in the broader business development and marketing activities of the firm
• Actively contribute to and support positive team dynamics
Progressively complex and expansive duties will be assigned to the successful candidate as he/she grows industry knowledge and demonstrates ability to execute against assigned revenue goals.
Skills and Qualifications:
The company is seeking a high-energy and productive mid-career individual. The successful candidate must be a self-starter, have a high work-rate, be able to multi-task, and pay attention to detail. A flexible and personable approach is essential.
The ideal candidate for the role will have the following qualifications and experience:
* 3-5 years relevant experience
* Proven track record of selling at least $1 to 2m per annum of research and consulting services.
* Ambition to sell financial information or analytical services to North American organizations, and meet aggressive sales goals in a rapidly growing company.
* Strong quantitative skills, comfort with financial databases, corporate and market statistics, and other aspects of financial analysis and consulting.
* Ability to coordinate own selling activity while simultaneously coaching a small but dynamic team of highly motivated sales associates.
* Knowledge of and interest in the renewable energy and low-carbon technology sectors and markets.
* Sector knowledge a plus: key sectors include utilities, energy and power generation, transmission, government, carbon trading, buy side and other financial markets.
* Ability to interact well and engage with senior management at global institutions and coordinate activity at major accounts.
* Strong working knowledge of finance, including public markets, mergers and acquisitions, venture capital and project finance.
* Very strong organizational and time management skills.
* Foreign language skills a distinct advantage.
